The current state of digital transformation in Argentina’s public administration

Abstract

In this article, we ask what role innovation based on the digitalization of functions may assume in the various areas that make up the public sector, taking into account the peculiar transformative action that these processes are showing in the most advanced countries. The general aim is to evaluate the impact of current initiatives regarding the application of digitalization processes and resources in the administration of the State in Argentina, also exploring, from a comparative perspective, some experiences that can be observed in this sector on the international stage. Consistently with this objective, an analysis was carried out of the legislation and institutional documentation referring to programs and procedures of digitalization in public administration, observing the existence of a general planning framework of a certain scope, even though it is appropriate to consider that the main plans provided so far are relatively recent, and therefore it is still not possible to identify a particularly significant record of implemented measures.
